Bangkok nightlife is well known. The city has a range of entertainment options at night with plenty of the places popular with locals and tourists alike, who like to have a dance and don't mind loud music.

Climax Club for Bangkok Nightlife

The first is called Climax Club which is located in the basement of the Ambassador Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11. With a mix of a live band and an on site DJ between sets, the Climax Club is the place to go to unwind, release some of that energy and maybe meet some new friends.

The music is pretty loud so conversation is really limited, but you are sure to have a good time.

The entrance charge is reasonable and includes your first drink. The air conditioning is pretty spot on and there did not seem to be any smoking inside the venue.

Club Insomnia for Bangkok Nightlife

The other popular Bangkok nightlife spot is Club Insomnia located on Soi 12.

No live music here but just good bass thumping sounds to get your heart racing.

There is a small dance floor in the centre of the club where you can dance to your hearts' content, but otherwise it is just the standard dance around the table gig.

Concept CM2

Concept CM2 nightspot is located in the basement of the Novotel Bangkok Hotel on Siam Square and is popular with the Bangkok crowd.

They also have a mix of a live band interspersed with a DJ. The entrance fee is a little more expensive but covers the first two drinks. CM2 has different genres of music assigned to specific days of the week so check it out before you go.

CM2 is a great place to experience Bangkok nightlife.

Tawandang German Brewery

If you like a professional show on a stage with singing, dancing and reasonable food, along with your choice of German beer then one place I would recommend is Tawandang German Brewery.

Located in two areas of Bangkok it is a great place to go with a group of people. With over 2000 seats there should be no shortage of places to sit, but it does fill up quickly, so don't be late. You will find that it is quite an informal setting, where you can expect children to be running around between the tables.

Here for a very reasonable cost you can eat from a selection of Thai food whilst watching a stage show of singing and dancing. It is all in Thai, but don't let that distract you from the whole experience.

This is not a Siam Niramit show but more of a London Palladium style featuring traditional and contempory Thai songs. Expect a great night out and see a different side to the Bangkok nightlife scene.

Bar Su

For those who like Bangkok nightlife to be a bit more up market then Bar Su in the Sheraton Grande Sukumvit, close by to Asoke BTS station is a very popular night club. Not much atmosphere for my taste, but if you don't want to stray too far then this should be a fairly safe option.

Titanium Ice Bar

If you are looking for some company then you could try Titanium Ice Bar on Soi 22 where they have a mix of live band and music.

On the same Soi about 75 metres further in is the Ruan Thub Thim Restaurant.

Here you can get Thai food at a reasonable price in a cosy atmosphere and get to experience a range of Bangkok nightlife all within a short walking distance.

Cabbages and Condoms

On Soi 12 you will also find one of the Cabbages and Condoms restaurants run by the Population and Community Development Association.

At this up-market restaurant you can dine on a selection of Thai food from around the country; don't worry about it being too spicy because it is toned down for the tourist.

The outdoor garden is decked out with intricate lighting hung from the trees above the garden and gives the whole place a sort of magical ambience. If it looks like there may be a spot of rain, then you can be seated outside in the verandah area.

Cabbages and Condoms restaurants are the commercial arm of the charitable foundation that dedicates itself to providing sex education and awareness in Thailand and so you can be sure that any profits are going to a good cause.

Free vasectomies, HIV education to sex workers and general family planning activities in Bangkok and Northern Thailand are the sorts of projects that they have involvement in.

There is a small shop at the entrance to the restaurant where you can purchase locally made items. As a way to get their message across there are usually sculptures made from condoms decorating the hallway. These can change from time to time and I have seen some really creative and artistic designs using different coloured condoms.

Oh and by the way when you receive your final bill it will come with a couple of condoms so if you are enjoying a nice meal with the old folks flip the bill wallet open carefully or they will fly everywhere.

Thon Kruen Restaurant

Thon Kruen Restaurant is located at 239 Soi Thonglor 13, Sukhumvit 55, this is a typical Thai restaurant off the main tourist track that has expanded over the years from just 20 tables to over 70 tables.

Good food at a reasonable price and a choice of dining outside or in. Very popular with the locals and open daily from 11:00am to 10:00pm.
